The Nurse Manager assures that the clinical and personnel supervision is achieved to maintain the highest quality of care for residents on a 24 hours per day basis (which includes weekends and holidays). In collaboration with the Director of Nursing Services, provides direction to licensed and non-licensed personnel on all shifts in regard to managerial and clinical issues, assists in the recruitment and hiring of both licensed and non-licensed personnel. This position monitors the job performance of the nursing staff, monitors and evaluates the nursing personnel in their designated areas, and recommends employee promotions/terminations along with the Director of Nursing Services
The Nurse Manager assesses and analyzes the acuity of the resident needs and ensures that staffing levels are appropriate to provide quality outcomes for residents residing in their clinical areas. The Nurse Manager may be required to recruit additional support or complete the duties as a Registered Nurse as necessary.
Direct supervisory responsibilities for the licensed and non-licensed nursing personnel in the various clinical areas of the organization.
Education, experience and skills:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a 4 year BSN degree preferred.
- Current, Unencumbered R.N. Licensure in the State of Iowa is mandatory.
- Minimum of three - five years previously successful experience as a nurse or as a nursing supervisor in a setting serving older adults. Gerentological Nurse Certification highly desirable.
- Management skills or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience, and the ability to communicate in English both orally and in writing, to complete required Nursing Department documentation, and respect for the principles of resident rights, confidentiality, EEO and ADA
