The University of Dubuque is a growing University who is seeking an Instructor of Flight and Maintenance.
The Instructor of Flight and Maintenance will be expected to teach a standard teaching load with assignments in flight-related courses offered through the University’s Aviation program to prepare students for earning a bachelor’s degree in Aviation Maintenance or Flight Operation. Courses include Safety and Ethics in Aviation, Aviation Safety Management, Aviation Security and Crisis Management, Basic Ground School, Instrument Ground School, Advanced Ground School, CFI Aeronautical Knowledge, as well as flight laboratories to include FAA assessment evaluations in all flight laboratories and stage checks in accordance with FAA approved training course outlines. The Instructor will also engage in curriculum development, assessment, and evaluation and must engage in scholarship and service to the University, Department, and the aviation discipline.
Due to the nature of the duties to be performed by the Instructor of Flight and Maintenance, any successful candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Flight Operations or Aviation along with Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument (CFII) rating required. Due to the University’s status as a post-secondary educational institution, and because of its accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission, the University requires that any instructor teaching students at the University hold, at a minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in the field of study they will teach (University faculty must hold Master’s Degrees or Doctorate Degrees in the field of study they will teach, depending on the position).
